What You Should Know: End-of-Life Pet Care
Making end-of-life decisions for your pet can be overwhelming. Our veterinary team can assist you in making informed choices that are right for your pet and the rest of your family.
How do I know when it’s time to say goodbye to my pet?
A quality-of-life exam can help pet owners determine if their fur kid is experiencing significant pain or declining quality of life. Our team will discuss your pet’s condition honestly and give you advice on what may be right for your pet. In the end, the decision is always yours without judgment.
What is hospice or palliative care for pets?
For pets with terminal conditions, hospice care (also called palliative care) focuses on pain management, comfort, and maintaining quality of life for as long as possible.
Will euthanasia be painful for my pet?
No. The procedure is made to be completely painless and stress-free. Your pet will be given a gentle sedative to keep them feeling calm before the final medication is administered.
Can I stay with my pet during the euthanasia process?
Yes. You are welcome to bring family or a close friend and spend as much time as you need to say goodbye.

Euthanasia is a humane option for pets.
The euthanasia process is a peaceful way to relieve suffering when a pet’s quality of life has deteriorated. During an appointment, a veterinarian will discuss your pet’s condition and answer any questions you have. Your pet will be given a gentle sedative to relax them. Once you are ready, your fur baby will be given an injection so that they pass peacefully.
We understand this is an emotional experience, and our team is here to provide support. You may spend as much time as you need before, during, and after the euthanasia procedure.
Cremation Options for Memorializing Your Pet
After euthanasia, we offer private and communal cremation options to honor your pet’s memory in a way that feels right for you. If you select a private cremation, your pet is cremated individually, and their ashes will be returned for you to keep. In a communal cremation, your pet is respectfully cremated with others, but ashes are not returned.
If you would like to discuss options ahead of the appointment, please let our team know at the time of scheduling, and we are happy to make note of your wishes for cremation.
