Just For Pets Animal Hospital provides urgent and sick-visit care during business hours. If you suspect an emergency, call us first — we will triage by phone and either bring your pet in for same-day care or direct you to the nearest 24-hour emergency hospital.

When to Call Us or an Emergency Vet

Seek immediate veterinary care if your pet is experiencing any of the following:

Difficulty breathing, choking, or persistent coughing
Severe bleeding that won’t stop within 5 minutes
Suspected broken bones, severe lameness, or inability to stand
Suspected poisoning (chocolate, xylitol, antifreeze, human medications, plants)
Heatstroke — excessive panting, drooling, weakness, collapse
Repeated vomiting or diarrhea, especially with blood
Bloated or distended abdomen (especially in large-breed dogs)
Seizures or sudden loss of consciousness
Eye injuries or sudden vision loss
Inability to urinate or pass stool, especially in male cats
Trauma — hit by car, fall, attack by another animal

Urgent, Same-Day Care During Our Open Hours

When your pet suddenly seems unwell, it's hard to know whether to wait or act now. At Just For Pets Animal Hospital in Marietta, near East Cobb, we make every effort to see urgent, same-day sick pets quickly while we're open. If your dog or cat has eaten something they shouldn't have, started vomiting or having diarrhea, is limping, won't eat, or has a minor wound, please call us first at (470) 481-2300. We Are Not a 24-Hour Emergency Hospital

We want to be honest about how we can help. Just For Pets is a full-service veterinary practice, not a 24-hour emergency room. Our hours are Monday and Wednesday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM, and Saturday, 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM; we are closed Tuesday and Sunday. If your pet has a true after-hours, overnight, or life-threatening emergency, please do not wait for us to open. Go straight to a 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital, where staff and equipment are ready around the clock. If you're unsure during our open hours, calling us first is always a good starting point.

When to Seek Emergency Care

Some signs mean your pet needs immediate help from a 24-hour emergency hospital, day or night. Seek emergency care right away if you notice:

Difficulty breathing, choking, or constant panting

Severe trauma, such as being hit by a car or a major fall

Suspected poisoning or eating a toxic substance, plant, or medication

A swollen, bloated, or hard belly, especially with restlessness or retching

Seizures, collapse, or sudden inability to stand or walk

Uncontrolled bleeding or repeated vomiting
